mor•bid•i•ty
Morbidity is the presence of disease in the patient or being unhealthy. For example, a patient who has a high body weight BMI >35 is considered morbidly obese. Any presence of disease whether its cancer, high blood pressure or other malady is morbidity.
Morbidity is sometimes confused with mortality.
Morbidity rate is the prevalence of disease. In other words how often is disease present in the patient population.
